Former University of Cincinnati golfer Jim Herman won his third PGA Tour event on Sunday, taking the top spot in the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C.
Herman shot 66-69-61-63=259 to finish 21-under, a one-stroke lead over Billy Horschel at Sedgefield Country Club. He shot three straight birdies on Friday to make the cut then rose from four strokes off the lead to win the event on an exciting Sunday.
Since earning his PGA Tour card in November of 2010, the former Bearcats golfer has won three PGA events. Herman won the Shell Houston Open in 2016 and the Barbasol Championship in July 2019. The win at the Wyndham Championship now puts him in contention for the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Herman played at UC from 1996-2000 before turning pro in 2000. He is currently exempt through the 2023 season and sits at No. 54 in the FedEx Cup leaderboard with invites to the first two events of the playoffs. He also secured a trip to the 2021 Masters with the victory.
