CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics has partnered with brand marketing consultant and author Jeremy Darlow to help Bearcats student-athletes develop and grow their personal brands.

"We are excited about this partnership and The DARLOW Rules program," Director of Athletics John Cunningham said. "One of the key pieces of our mission statement is to prepare our student-athletes to go out and change the world and Jeremy's program takes things to the next level. We want to provide them with every advantage to further themselves athletically, academically and socially while equipping them for continued success following graduation."

"The city of Cincinnati brings with it a unique combination of sports fandom and professional opportunity," Darlow said. "It's our job, as experts and educators, to teach Bearcats student athletes how to use those resources to their advantage. Our work together is about teaching these young men and women how to build a plan that puts them on a path to their dream jobs. This partnership goes well beyond sports."

Darlow, the best-selling author of Brands Win Championships and Athletes Are Brands Too, will provide UC student-athletes access to "The DARLOW Rules" program, which features short, easy to understand, video-based lessons teaching athletes from every sport the fundamentals of brand development and communication.

"Today, more than at any other point in history, athletes have the opportunity to build personal brands that transcend the sports they play," said Darlow. "Thanks to the exposure and influence offered by social media, these young men and women can now control their own brand destiny."

By the end of the course, students will have built their own brand marketing plan, employing the same planning techniques used by Darlow over the course of his extensive career in sports marketing. Additionally, each graduating student will receive a certificate of completion to include on their professional resume.

"The goal is to teach athletes how to build personal brands that set them up for success in life, regardless of what happens in sports," added Darlow. "Too often athletes are defined entirely by their athletic careers without developing influence in other areas of passion. My goal is to change that."

Darlow is a brand marketing consultant and author who, over his career, has worked with schools like Notre Dame, Michigan, and UCLA; athletes that include Aaron Rodgers, Kris Bryant, and Lionel Messi; and celebrities such as Kanye West and Snoop Dogg. He helps college athletic programs, coaches and athletes build and elevate their brands to elite levels.
