CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati linebacker Jarell White (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) was named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 27, 2020, the league office announced Monday.

White was the key player on a Cincinnati defense that held No. 22 Army, which had outscored its first two opponents 77-7, without an offensive touchdown and limited the Black Knights to 276 yards and 182 rushing yards in the Bearcats' 24-10 win.

White led the Bearcats defense in UC's 24-10 win over No. 22 with a career-best 15 tackles.

White had a game- and career-high 15 tackles, including eight solo stops and a tackle for loss along with a quarterback hurry as Cincinnati held Army to 207.5 yards below its season rushing average.

UC WR Michael Young Jr. (Saint Rose, Louisiana/Destrehan/Notre Dame) earned a spot on the weekly honor roll after hauling in a career-best five receptions for 60 yards and a TD against Army.

The No. 15 Bearcats return to Nippert Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET, closing out a three-game homestand in their AAC opener against USF. The game will air on ESPN+ and 700 WLW AM.
