The latest episode of "Fresh Faces Presented by Kroger" introduces Bearcats fans to UC men's basketball freshman Mason Madsen.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard from Rochester, Minnesota, comes to Clifton along with his twin brother, Gabe.

Mason averaged 19.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists while making 80 3-pointers and shooting 41.0 percent from beyond the arc and 92.3 percent from the free-throw line as a senior at Mayo Senior. He compiled more than 2,000 career points during his stay and was tabbed a three-star prospects according to 247Sports.com. 

"The main reasons I came to Cincinnati were that I believed what Coach (John Brannen) told me throughout the whole recruitment (process)," Mason Madsen said. "I think coming here I can become the best basketball player (I can be) and win at the highest levels too." 

Coach Brannen pointed out Mason's team-first attitude and versatility as ways he will help the Bearcats program. 

"Mason brings a toughness and a competitiveness that Cincinnati Basketball has been synonymous with for years," Brannen said when the Madsen twins' signing in November 2019. "He'll fit perfectly into how we do things. He's selfless, he's athletic. He can do a lot of different things with the basketball as a multi-position guard."

"I can do whatever I need to," Mason Madsen said. "I think I am in this position because of my ability to do that and be coachable and do whatever my coach needs me to do and whatever my teammates need me to do. And I think I'm a winner when it comes down to it. Obviously, with winning comes doing whatever the team needs you to do." 

"Fresh Faces Presented by Kroger" will spotlight all Cincinnati men's and women's basketball newcomers leading up to the 2020-21 season.
