The latest episode of "Fresh Faces Presented by Kroger" introduces Bearcats fans to UC women's basketball sophomore transfer guard Caitlyn Wilson.
The 5-foot-11 guard ranked as the No. 5 JUCO player in the Class of 2021 according to All-Star Girls Report and garnered All-Panhandle Conference First Team honors after averaging 13.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 3.4 3-pointers a year ago at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Florida.
UC coach Michelle Clark-Heard says Wilson played in one of the nation's toughest junior college conferences and showed she can put pressure on the opposition's defense.
"Caitlyn is a pure shooter that can score from anywhere on the floor," Clark-Heard said. "She is a great size guard with a high IQ and has the ability to stretch the floor with her shooting range."
Wilson wants to continue to grow her game.
"I'm a shooter right now, but I want to be a better defender so I can be everywhere," Wilson said.
Off the court, Wilson likes watching videos on social media and coloring.
"Besides watching TikTok all the time, I like coloring," Wilson said. "I have so many color books. I have coloring apps on my phone. I have crayons, colored pencils, markers - I have all of it. Looks like a kindergarten classroom."
"Fresh Faces Presented by Kroger" will spotlight all Cincinnati men's and women's basketball newcomers leading up to the 2020-21 season.
