CINCINNATI – Building off back-to-back 20-win campaigns, the University of Cincinnati women's basketball program released its 2020-21 nonconference schedule Thursday.
The five-game slate begins with a pair of home games at Fifth Third Arena featuring visits from North Carolina A&T (Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. ET) in the season opener and Louisville (Saturday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m.), who was ranked fifth in the Associated Press preseason poll earlier this week.
UC head coach Michelle Clark-Heard served as an assistant at Louisville under current head coach Jeff Walz from 2007-2012.
After a road game at Florida on Saturday, Dec. 5 (time is TBA), UC plays host to Xavier in the annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.
The non-league schedule wraps up with a road contest at Central Michigan on Saturday, Dec. 12 (time is TBA).
"We are looking forward to the kids having an opportunity to play this season," Clark-Heard said. "We are thrilled about the nonconference schedule we have put together.
"We are really excited to have Louisville, a Top 5 team in the country, to come play in Fifth Third Arena, since Jeff and his staff are like family."
The American Athletic Conference portion of UC's schedule, including tip times, will be announced at a later date.
ABOUT THE BEARCATS
UC senior forward IImar'I Thomas was tabbed the AAC's Co-Preseason Player of Year by the league coaches in late October while the Bearcats were picked to finish fourth in the conference.
Thomas marks the lone returning starter from the 2019-20 squad that earned a 22-10 overall mark, tied for second in the league at 11-5 and advanced to the finals of the AAC Women's Championship. It marked the first time UC has won 20 or more games in consecutive seasons since posting three straight 20-win campaigns from 2001-03.
Moore saw action in every game last season with 12 starts, averaging 3.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 21.0 minutes. She's the only returning Bearcat besides Thomas with double-digits starts last season.
UC's 2020-21 roster includes seven returning letterwinners and five newcomers.
