CINCINNATI – Former University of Cincinnati football standouts Josiah Deguara (Folsom, California) and Michael Warren II (Toledo, Ohio) were among 337 prospects invited to the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, the NFL announced Friday. The annual event takes place in Indianapolis from Feb. 24 through March 1.
Deguara, a recent participant in the Reese's Senior Bowl, was a First-Team All-American Athletic Conference honoree in 2019. He capped one of the best seasons for a tight end in school history, leading the team with 39 receptions for 504 yards and seven TDs. He averaged almost 13 yards per catch (12.9) and became only the second tight end in school history to eclipse 1,000-yards receiving for his career (1,117) along with Brent Celek (1,135). His 92 career receptions is the most in school history for a tight end and he's just the second tight end in school history with 500 or more yards receiving in a season, along with Travis Kelce who tallied 722 yards in 2012.
Warren, a draft-eligible junior, is the first UC player to declare early for the NFL Draft. A two-time Second-Team All-American Athletic Conference honoree and the 2018 Military Bowl MVP, Warren rushed for nearly 3,000 yards (2,918) in 38 games with the Bearcats, tallying 37 total touchdowns, including 34 rushing scores. In 2019, Warren rushed 261 times for 1,265 yards and 14 scores, crossing the 100-yard plateau on seven occasions. He ran for a season-high 141 yards at ECU and scored three touchdowns twice. Warren rushed for 60 or more yards in each of last seven games for the Bearcats, breaking 100 yards on five occasions and scoring in six of seven games. The last seven times he donned the red and black, Warren averaged 109.5 yards per game and 5.2 yards per carry.
