// CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country teams will open their 2021 season this Saturday with the JK Gold Classic at 10:30 a.m. ET in Augusta, Kansas.
The site of the event, 4 Mile Creek Resort, will serve as host to the 2021 American Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday, Feb. 6.

The JK Gold Classic will kick off on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The meet will take place as follows.
10:30 a.m. – Women's 5000 meters
11:00 a.m. – Men's 6,000 meters

UC last competed at the AAC Championship in 2019 where it took part in the men's 8,000m and the women's 6,000m.
Redshirt senior Aaron Bienenfeld shattered course and personal records. Bienenfeld was the men's 8,000m champion with a time of 23:43.3. With this time, he also set a new course record, broke his previous PR and was named to the AAC All-Conference team.
On the women's side Laura Kemper took fifth with a time of 20:46.4 in the 6,000m. She also set a new PR and was named to All-Conference alongside Ellie Leather. Leather finished 11th with a personable-best time of 21:01.7.
The Bearcats look to have sixteen women and eleven men return to action from the 2019-20 season. They also welcome five newcomers to the roster, including two women Olivia Anaple and Jodie Pierce, as well as three men Harry Custer, Nick Dehaven, and Alec Sandusky.
