TicketsHOUSTON – The University of Cincinnati women's track and field team had four event wins and 11 podium finishes Friday at the H-Town SpeedCity Series in Yeoman Fieldhouse.
Taylor Beard (high jump), Caisja Chandler (200m), Rachel Coghill (pole vault) and Malin Smith (shot put) were the Bearcats event winners in the first of two trips to Houston this season. UC will return to Yeoman Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 13 for the next round of the H-Town SpeedCity Series.
WINNER WINNER
• Chandler won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.83 and placed second in the 60-meter dash with a clocking of 7.46. Chandler, the school record holder in both events, now owns eight of the top 10 spots on UC's all-time chart in the 200m and five of the top 10 in the 60m dash.
• Beard won the high jump with a personal-best mark of 1.83m, which also checks in as the fourth-best effort in school history. She surpassed her previous bar of 1.79m, set on Jan. 15 at the McCravy-Green Invitational, which she also won.
• Coghill won her second-straight pole-vault competition, taking top honors with a clearance of 3.80m. She won the event at the McCravy-Green Invitational on Jan. 16 with a personal best of 4.00m.
• Smith heaved the shot 15.63m, earning her second-straight shot-put win. Like Beard and Coghill, Smith was victorious at the McCravy-Green Invitational the last time out. Smith also was second in the weight throw with a throw of 17.37m.
PODIUM FINISHES
• Carmen Licht grabbed a third-place finish in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:13.42.
• Kennedy Mrable leapt 12.43m in the triple jump to take third place.
• Hannah Jackson was third in the weight throw, tossing 17.07m to finish behind Smith.
• The 4x400-meter relay group of Alicia Thorpe, Chandler, Licht and Faith Banks placed third with a time of 3:48.31.
