CINCINNATI HEADLINES
  • Sophomore guard Jeremiah Davenport is averaging 12.8 points and 5.5 rebounds, while shooting 50.9 percent (28 of 55) from the floor over the past six games. 
  • Junior guard David DeJulius nearly recorded a double-double Thursday at SMU, grabbing a career-high nine rebounds and handing out a career-high 12 assists. The 12 assists were the most by a Bearcat since Steve Logan dished out a school-record 16 assists vs. Coppin State during the 2001-02 campaign.
  • Thursday's win at SMU marked UC's 100th AAC win. UC has won more AAC games than any other league member since the conference formed prior to the 2013-14 campaign. 
  • Williams earned preseason First Team All-AAC honors while senior center Chris Vogt was tabbed a Second Team All-AAC selection according to league coaches. 
  • John Brannen is one of six active coaches in the nation to have won a conference regular-season championship in each of the past three seasons (Northern Kentucky [2018, 2019], Cincinnati [2020]).

  • The Bearcats snapped a five-game losing streak with a 76-69 road win at SMU on Thursday. Jeremiah Davenport posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead five UC players in double figures. 
  • Wichita State saw its five-game win streak end Wednesday, falling 70-63 at No. 11 Houston. Tyson Etienne led the Shockers with 25 points thanks in part to four 3-pointers. 
  • UC owns a 24-12 lead in its series with Wichita State, including a 10-8 mark in Wichita, Kan. The Bearcats have won the last six meetings.  
  • Cincinnati leads its series with Wichita State 24-12 overall, 10-8 in Wichita, Kan., 13-4 in Cincinnati, and 1-0 at neutral sites.

  • In his first career start, he posted his first career double-double, matching a career-high with 18 points and grabbing a career-best 10 rebounds while hitting a trio of 3-pointers at SMU (1/7).
  • He posted 18 points at Georgia (12/19) on 6-of-13 shooting. He hit four 3-pointers and posted 14 points at then-No. 12 Tennessee (12/12) and tallied 16 points with seven rebounds and a trio of threes against Tulsa (1/2).   
  • Davenport entered play Friday ranked among the AAC leaders in field goal percentage (6th at .515) and 3-point percentage (11th at .405), 3-pointer made (13th at 1.7) and points (24th at 10.6).
  • DEJULIUS THE DISTRIBUTOR: Junior transfer David DeJulius nearly recorded a double-double Thursday at SMU, grabbing a career-high nine rebounds and handing out a career-high 12 assists. 
  • The 12 assists were the most by a Bearcat since Steve Logan dished out a school-record 16 assists vs. Coppin State during the 2001-02 campaign. DeJulius becomes only the sixth Bearcat in school history to record 12 or more assists in a game. 
  • DeJulius ranks among AAC leaders in assists (2nd at 5.1) and assist-to-turnover ratio (third at 2.9-to-1).
  • He was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll on Dec. 14 after posting 11 points and seven assists at then-No. 12 Tennessee. 
  • CLOSE BUT NOT QUITE: Despite having six losses this season, UC has played its opponents closely in nearly every contest. The Bearcats have been within three points or less in the final 100 seconds of five of their six losses this season.
  • UC trailed Xavier (70-67 with 1:04 left) and then-No. 12 Tennessee (59-56 with 1:36 left) by three points, USF (73-71 with 41 seconds left) by two points, UCF (71-70 with 1:04 left) by one point and was tied with Tulsa (63-63 with 1:30 left).  
  • WILLIAMS LEADS SCORING EFFORT: Preseason AAC First Team honoree Keith Williams entered Friday eighth in the league in scoring, averaging 15.1 points. 
  • Williams was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll a week ago following his performance against UCF (12/22). He posted his first career double-double with a team-high 19 points and game-best 10 rebounds against the Knights.
  • Williams has led the Bearcats in scoring in five of nine games this season. He scored a game-high 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting with five rebounds against Furman (12/9) and accounted for a team-high 18 points with six rebounds against city-rival Xavier (12/6). 
  • Williams has scored in double figures in seven of nine games this season, including each of the last five. 
  • EASON'S CONTRIBUTIONS GROWING: Freshman Tari Eason has made an immediate impact on the Bearcats this season, leading the Bearcats in rebounding in five of nine games this season. 
  • Entering play Tuesday, Eason ranked among AAC leaders in blocked shots (5th at 1.2), offensive rebounds (8th at 2.1) and rebounds (16th at 5.7).
  • Eason had a season-high 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting with five rebounds and four blocks at SMU (1/7). 
  • He posted 13 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals against USF (12/16).
SCOUTING WICHITA STATE
  • Wichita State plays its first AAC home game of the season Sunday when it faces Cincinnati. The Shocker won at Tulsa (67-63 on Dec. 15) and at USF (82-77 OT on Dec. 22) before falling at No. 11 Houston (70-63 on Jan. 6), despite leading at halftime. 
  • Tyson Etienne (17.9 points, 2.9 3-pointers per game) and UConn transfer Alterique Gilbert (10.8 points, 3.3 assists) each average double figures in scoring for Wichita State. 
  • Etienne ranks among AAC leaders in 3-pointers per game (2nd at 2.9), points (3rd at 17.9) and free throw percentage (T5th at .833). Gilbert is listed in steals (10th at 1.4) and assists (T11th at 3.3).
  • Isaac Brown was promoted to interim head coach when Gregg Marshall resigned as head coach on Nov. 17, 2020.
