TicketsJACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of Cincinnati junior Vanessa Manrique posted a 1-over par 73 to tie for 16th place while junior Angela Lopez registered a 2-over 74 to tie for 22nd place after first-round play at the First Coast Classic at Deerwood Country Club.
Manrique, who registered three birdies and 11 par scores, sits four strokes behind tournament leaders Mary Joiner of Western Kentucky and Christin Eisenbeiss of North Florida, who each carded a 3-under 69.
Lopez shot par on 14 holes to go with one birdie.
Inclement weather halted second-round action on Monday afternoon. The resumption of round two and the event's final round is scheduled for Tuesday. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
The Bearcats completed the first round in ninth place at 17-over 305. Host North Florida leads the 12-team field at 3-under 285.
UC freshman Paighton Masterson is tied for 47th position at 6-over 78. Junior Katie Hallinan, competing in her first tournament as a Bearcat, ranks tied for 59nd place after an 8-over 80. Freshman Sadie Pan is tied for 64th place at 10-over 82.
UC freshman Catmela Simon Prieto, who earned a 5-over 77 score to tie for 40th place, is participating as an individual at the event.

"We didn't get to finish our second round today, due to lightning and torrential rains, but we are really happy with the way the ladies settled down and were playing the second round better," UC head coach Janet Carl said. "We showed some nerves during the first round.
"Every player is doing some good things," Carl said. "I'm proud of Vanessa and Angela and how they are leading the team as seniors. Par 5 scoring is still hurting us and we have missed too many putts from 6 feet and closer. We're looking forward to tomorrow."
