CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati track and field program is set to compete in the Al Campbell Invitational in Akron, Ohio Friday, Feb. 19 inside the Stile Athletics Field House.
ON WATCH
For the third week in a row, the Bearcats claimed American Athletic Conference Player of the week accolades. This week's AAC marks were awarded to Ellie Leather, Aaron Bienenfeld, Austin Goolsby.
Leather, this weeks AAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, outpaced the competition this past Saturday at the H-Town Series, posting a time of 4:43.32 in the women's one mile.
Her time was enough to shatter the previous meet record of 5:12.25, as well as the UC record of 4:49.41, previously held by Angie Kist for 19 years. Leather's personal best puts her within the NCAA top 50 at the No. 41 spot.
Bienenfeld was tabbed this weeks AAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Bienenfeld claimed his second track and field victory of the season with a clocking of 7:50.73 in the 3000m this past weekend at the H-Town Speed City series.
With this time, Bienenfeld now sits atop the UC record books in the men's 3000m, while also holding the meet record at the H-Town SpeedCity Series. Bienenfeld has projected himself into the No. 6 spot in the NCAA, less than four seconds off the current No. 1 spot.
This week's AAC Field athlete of the week, Aaron Goolsby posted a new personal best at the H-Town SpeedCity Series with a mark of 5.08m in the men's pole vault. With this mark Goolsby now shares the No. 6 Spot in the UC record book and climbs into the NCAA to 50 with a national ranking of No.43.
