HOUSTON – Cincinnati saw its four-game win streak end Sunday, falling 90-52 at No. 6 Houston.
The Cougars' entered the week with the nation's top defense and held the Bearcats to season lows in points and field-goal shooting as UC shot 30 percent, making 15 of 50 shots from the floor.
After Mamoudou Diarra converted a layup to give UC a 19-18 lead at the 11:21 mark of the first half, Houston warmed up. The Cougars raced out on a 19-2 run to gain a 37-21 advantage over the next six minutes.
Houston (18-3, 12-3 American) owned a 50-26 lead at intermission and started the second half on a 23-4 run to grab a 73-30 advantage.
Five Houston players scored in double figures led by Quentin Grimes, who poured in 20 points with a trio of 3-pointers and eight rebounds. Tramon Mark tallied 12 points with six rebounds. Fabian White Jr. added 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Jeremiah Davenport led UC (7-8, 5-5) with 11 points and a pair of threes. It marked his seventh double-digit scoring performance of the season.
Tari Eason notched 10 points, five rebounds and a game-high three blocks.
Houston scored 22 points off 13 UC turnovers and outrebounded the Bearcats 47-31.
The margin of defeat was UC's largest since falling 89-51 to Notre Dame in the 2011 BIG EAST Tournament.
