CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati tennis program returns to Western Athletic Club Friday Mar. 5 for its last indoor home match of the season. The Bearcats (2-4) will face off against DePaul University with the match starting at 6 p.m.
The Bearcats and the Blue Demons (6-1) have not competed since 2014 where the Blue Devil secured a 6-1 victory. Cincinnati looks to pivot their momentum from Sunday's win and snap DePaul's current eight match series win streak dating back to 2007.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bearcats are coming off their second win of the season after posting a 5-2 dual meet victory over NKU last Sunday. An early doubles point set the Bearcats up for success, taking four of the six singles matches over the Norse.
Maria Santilli won her third singles match of the season on a stirring 10-point, third-set tie breaker after winning the first set 6-0 and dropping the second set 7-6 (8).
Emma Miceli also secured her third win of the season in singles play after completing a two-set (6-4, 6-1) sweep over the Norse.
The dynamic duo of Kelli Niehaus and Miceli continue to dominate in Doubles play, posting a staggering 6-1 victory Sunday afternoon. Niehaus and Miceli improve to 3-1 on the season, only playing four of the Bearcats six matches together.
