Volleyball Returns Home To Face UCF

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team continues to battle for the American Athletic Conference entering its last regular season home match of the season. The Bearcats welcome the University of Central Florida to Fifth Third Arena this Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. ET as they face-off for the American East.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team continues to battle for the American Athletic Conference entering its last regular season home match of the season. The Bearcats welcome the University of Central Florida to Fifth Third Arena this Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. ET as they face-off for the American East.
 
UC was able to edge out two five-set victories over USF in last week's AAC series in Tampa, Florida. During both matches the Bearcats went up early taking the first set, proceeding to drop sets two and three as USF looked pull off a 3-1 win. Cincinnati quickly rallied, taking the fourth set and swinging the momentum in its favor. The Bearcats went on to polish off the fifth set against USF, dropping a five-set victory to overcome a 2-1 deficit both days.
 
MATCH HISTORY
Both the Bearcats and UCF are 4-0 in American Athletic Conference play headlining into this weekend's two-day conference series. UCF leads the all-time series 9-8, winning the most recent match against UC back in 2019 at the AAC Tournament Final after pushing for a five-set victory.
 
THE BREAKDOWN
Entering this weekend's AAC series, Cincinnati currently holds the No. 2 spot for service aces in the AAC totaling 56 through 35 sets, with an average of 1.60 per set.
 
Climbing her way up the AAC charts is Maria Mallon, who already ranks No. 14 in kills after missing the first four games of the season. Mallon has accumulated 60 kills through 20 sets with a 3.00 kill per set average.
 
Ashley Kozer, who will be celebrating her senior day this Saturday, ranks No. 6 in AAC in assists as she continues to lead the Bearcats totaling 317. Kozer has played in 34 of the Bearcats total 35 total sets this season averaging 9.32 per set.
 
Cincinnati tops the leader board in the AAC holding the top three spots in services aces. Sitting in the top three is No.1 Maria Tobergte, No.2 Kerstin Ficker, and No.3 Kozer. Together the trio has gathered 34 of the Bearcats 56 total service aces.
