CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati baseball team will open up the home schedule this weekend against Western Michigan at UC Baseball Stadium. The Bearcats and Broncos will square off at 4 p.m. ET Friday, 3 p.m. ET Saturday and wrap up the set on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

• LHP Garrett Schoenle, Sunday's starter, earned a spot on the AAC honor roll this week.
• Schoenle went five innings at UNCW Sunday, allowing a run on two hits, fanning 11 and walking two. He did not factor in the decision; a 9-8 Seahawks win in the series finale. The UC senior was one off his career high mark of 12 strikeouts, set in 2019.
• He is 1-0 on the season, pitching 13.1 innings in three starts, allowing 10 runs on 15 hits and striking out 24.
ABOUT THE BRONCOS
• Western Michigan is 0-3 following a series at Kansas State from Feb. 26-28 with two of the three games being decided by one run.
• Connor Charping leads the Broncos with a .417 batting average and a .462 on-base percentage. Against Kansas State, he scored two runs on five hits with one double and one triple.
• Drew Devine and Justin McIntyre each have double-digit reached base streaks heading into the weekend. Devine has reached base safely in 14 straight games while McIntyre has done so in 13 straight.
• The Broncos need two wins to become just the second team in Mid-American Conference history to reach 2,000 victories.
