CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell in the second day of its weekend American Athletic Conference matchup against UCF, as the Knights reclaimed the lead of the AAC East Division.
Cincinnati (6-5, 4-2 AAC) battled through three sets with the University of Central Florida (12-1, 6-0 AAC) putting up 35 total kills on 115 attempts, averaging a .078 hit percentage. The Bearcats matched UCF in service aces, accumulating three apiece.

SET BREAKDOWN
SET 1: UCF, 25-22
UCF got out to an early 3-0 lead after taking the first point on a long rally to start the match. UC retaliated, putting up a five-score streak of its own, led by Mallon who tallied the Bearcats first service ace of the match. The Knights slowly chipped away at the score tying things up a nine. UC put up another 9-1 scoring streak when a service error in Cincinnati's favor forced a UCF timeout. UCF rallied to finish out the end of the first set tying the match up at 19 where the lead would seesaw back and forth through 23. A sanction against UC awarded the Knights the set point, taking the first set 25-22 on a service error.
SET 2: UCF, 25-20
UCF held its momentum entering the second set. An early 7-3 lead over UC drove the Bearcats to put up five points of their own, reclaiming a brief 8-7 lead. Norcom put up a strong kill after an assist by Kozer ended the long rally, bringing the Bearcats within two. UCF started to extend its lead taking the set point at 24-18. Kwasnik kept UC alive, claiming a pair of kills pulling the Bearcats up to 20. The Bearcats would drop the second set 25-20 when another service error awarded the Knights the second set.
SET 3: UCF 25-17
UC stepped up early in the third set, led by Waters who put up two kills and a service ace to give the Bearcats an early 8-3 lead. UC's lead didn't last long, when UCF put up a staggering 16-2 scoring run, putting the Bearcats at a nine-point deficit late in the third set. Mallon answered with back-to-back kills stunting the Knights momentum momentarily. A kill by Waters brought the Bearcats within five after a long rally. UCF finished out the match on a three-point streak and claiming the 25-17 victory on another set error.

The Bearcats will take a two-week break before heading to Temple University in Philadelphia from Friday-Saturday, March 26-27, 2020 to finish out the regular season in a two-day AAC matchup.

- Sarah Norcom stepped up for the Bearcats, posting 11 kills on 37 attempts. Norcom totaled a .500 hit percentage to end the first set with seven kills on 12 attempts and only one error.
- Maria Mallon totaled nine kills and one service ace for UC.
- Alexandra Kwasnik gathered six kills on 13 attempts and only one error, averaging a .385 hit percentage.
- Adria Oliver stuffed three blocks and hit five kills.
- Ashley Kozer, who celebrated her senior day following the match, put up 13 assists and three digs.
