CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati tennis team returns to conference play this Tuesday, March 16th at 10 a.m. ET at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.
Originally scheduled for 11 a.m., the match was moved up due to potential rain in the Houston Area Tuesday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bearcats are coming off a 6-1 home loss against DePaul University, where Emma Miceli claimed her third singles win in a row and her fourth of the season. Miceli who is 4-1 in singles play, took the Bearcat's only singles point (6-2, 7-6) after a second set rally lined her up for the tie-breaking finish against the Blue Demons.
Freshman Kelli Niehaus is 4-3 in singles play this season and was coming off a dominating performance against NKU, winning two sets to zero and securing the doubles point alongside Miceli.
Niehaus put up a strong performance against DePaul's Maddie Yergler in UC's previous home match. Niehaus dropped early in the first set 6-3, rebounding in the second to force a tiebreaker and the second set win. She then powered through three, falling to DePaul's Maddie Yergler 6-3 in the third set.
MATCH HISTORY
The two teams have only met twice in series history with the University of Houston holding a 2-0 advantage over the Bearcats.
The most recent meeting in 2015 went in favor of the Cougars, who took the match in a 0-6 sweep.
