GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A pair of early goals gave the University of Cincinnati lacrosse team a first-half lead but a strong offensive performance from No. 11 Florida led to a 19-5 defeat in American Athletic Conference action at Donald R. Dizney Stadium on Sunday.
The Bearcats dropped to 4-6 on the year and 0-4 in AAC play while the Gators improved to 7-2 (4-0 AAC). After UC's early braces from Alyssa Adams and Lindsey Durkota, Florida scored four-straight in a five-minute span to lead 5-2 with 21:42 to go.
Monica Borzillo scored her 21st of the year at the 18:39 mark but it was all Gators from there, scoring the final nine tallies of the opening half to lead 14-3 at the break.
UF added four more and lead 18-3 before UC got a pair of goals from Peyton Mottice and Jennie Finotti to make things 18-5.
UC trailed 39-20 on shot attempts and 24-14 on ground balls.
