CINCINNATI – Two members of the University of Cincinnati Cross Country program have been selected to compete in the 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship.

CINCINNATI – Two members of the University of Cincinnati Cross Country program have been selected to compete in the 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship.

Aaron Bienenfeld and Alec Sandusky, the two nominees for the men's NCAA Track and field Indoor Championship next week, have doubled down as they look to compete in Stillwater, Oklahoma Match 15 at the OSU Country Course, in the NCAA DI Cross Country Championship with event coverage starting at 12:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

Bienenfeld and Sandusky are the 10th and 11th Bearcat men to qualify individually for the NCAA Cross Country Championship. This nomination marks Bienenfeld's third and Sandusky's first. This also marks the first time in program history that two men have individually qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championship in the same year.

THE STARTING LINE
Bienenfeld, the 2019 NCAA DI Great Lakes Region Cross Country Champion looks to tack on to his senior year legacy as a Bearcat by accepting this year's NCAA nomination. Bienenfeld has been nominated for the NCAA DI Cross Country Tournament twice before, back in 2018 and again in 2019, where he elected to forgo competing in 2019 NCAA Championship to pursue a spot on the German U23 national team one final time. Since running in the 2018 NCAA Championship, Bienenfeld has won four events including three 8k crowns and one 10k victory.

COMING TO THE STAGE
Sandusky looks to make his NCAA Championship debut as he continues to feed his newfound success as a Bearcat, accepting his first NCAA Cross Country Championship Nomination. Sandusky posted personal bests this year in the 6k at the JK Gold Classic with a time of 12:58.7 and again in the 8k at the American Conference XC Championship with a clocking 24:05.4.

The 2021 NCAA Championship will take place Monday, March 15 at the OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Oklahoma with live event coverage starting at 12:30 p.m. ET.
