Madsen, Davenport Lead Bearcats to 82-69 Win at ECU

Cincinnati wrapped up the regular season with an 82-69 win at East Carolina on Sunday.

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Mason Madsen and Jeremiah Davenport scored 19 points each while Keith Williams tallied 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists as Cincinnati concluded the regular season with an 82-69 win at East Carolina on Sunday. 

The Bearcats made a season-high 12 3-pointers, including a season-best five from Madsen, who finished with his most points in a game this season. 

Mika Adams-Woods, who has scored in double figures in each of the last four games, added with 12 points and five assists while Tari Eason contributed seven points, seven rebounds and three steals. 

Jayden Gardner led East Carolina with 23 points. Tristen Newton and Brandon Suggs added 13 points each for the Pirates, who were playing only their second game in the last 27 days due to COVID-19 issues. 

UC has won seven of 10 since pausing play for 25 days earlier this season due to COVID-19 issues. 

UC broke open the game with a 12-0 run midway through the second half. A 3-pointer from Williams, a three-point play on a dunk and free throw by Eason and 3-pointers from Madsen and Davenport accounted for the run that gave the Bearcats a 67-53 lead with 7:23 remaining. 

Free throws from Adams-Woods and later by Madsen helped balloon the advantage to 18 points at 82-64 with 1:18 left.
