CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team once again saw a late comeback effort fall short in a 10-8 loss to Temple in American Athletic Conference action on Sunday at Nippert Stadium.

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team once again saw a late comeback effort fall short in a 10-8 loss to Temple in American Athletic Conference action on Sunday at Nippert Stadium.

Cincinnati (4-8, 0-6 AAC) scored four of the last five goals in the game and Sam Mlkvy's third brace of the day with 5:26 remaining pulled the Bearcats within two at 10-8. Temple (8-3, 4-2 AAC) won the ensuing draw control and ran a minute off the clock before UC got the ball back. UC had a pair of shots in the final minutes, but one was saved and the other blocked. 
 
The Owls held a 19-14 edge in shots on goal but UC had the 12-8 advantage in draw controls with Mlkvy, Monica Borzillo and Peyton Mottice each picking up three. UC's 19 turnovers, including 10 in the second half played to Temple's advantage.
 
Borzillo and Mlkvy both finished with three goals while Ali Mazzola and Gianna Napoletano scored one apiece.

UP NEXT
Lacrosse returns to the field on Friday, April 16 and Sunday, April 18 against Old Dominion. Friday's matchup starts at 3 p.m. ET while Sunday's finale has a noon first draw. UC will honor its 2020 senior class on Friday and its 2021 senior class on Sunday. Both matches are set to air on ESPN+ with live stats on BearcatStats.com.
 
The AAC has announced a new format for the 2021 campaign, with each team playing five teams during league play. The two-game series will take place over the course of three days, with a rest day in between games.
