CINCINNATI - On the heels of its double-overtime draw with No. 15 USF on Sunday, the University of Cincinnati soccer team earned the No. 3 seed in the American Athletic Conference Championship, set to start Thursday, April 15 at Corbett Soccer Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
The No. 3 Bearcats (4-4-1) will play No. 2 Memphis (8-2-0) at 3 p.m. ET with the game televised on ESPN+ and live stats available on BearcatStats.com. No. 1 USF will face No. 4 East Carolina in the nightcap at 7 p.m.
The championship final will take place Saturday, April 17 at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
The Tigers beat the Bearcats 2-0 on a blustery night at Gettler Stadium in mid-March which featured swirling, gusting winds, periods of rain and temperatures in the 40s.
UC leads the all-time series 10-7-1 and was victorious in the lone postseason matchup which was a 1-0 victory on Nov. 7, 1996 in the Conference USA Tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Seeding was determined by points per conference match because of the uneven number of conference games played among member schools.
The Bearcats are seeded third for the second time in The American's conference tournament (2017). UC is looking for their second tournament crown after capturing the title in 2015 on penalties over USF.
