CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati's Ioana Guna was tabbed this week's American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
 
Guna clenched a 4-3 victory for the Bearcats on a 7-6(7) third-set stunner against Marshall University's Anna Smith Sunday afternoon. 
 
Guna rallied after dropping the first set 6-1 to start the match. She quickly answered, nipping out a 6-7(3) second set victory, bringing it down to a final third set decision where she was able to put away a 7-6(7) victory, securing the match for the Bearcats.
 
This victory serves as Guna's fourth win of the season and her 41st solo win as a Bearcat. Herself and the Bearcats will finish off their last regular season match of the year this Sunday where they look to secure their 500th all-time victory in program history.
 
UP NEXT
The Bearcats return home to Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center to take on Western Kentucky University in their final regular season match of the 2020-21 season. First serve will take place at 1 p.m. ET, Sunday, April 18.
