Hallinan Six Shots Off Lead After Challenging Day At AAC Championship

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati golfer Katie Hallinan shot a 5-over-par 77 and sits tied for 27th after the first day of the 2021 American Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati golfer Katie Hallinan shot a 5-over-par 77 and sits tied for 27th after the first day of the 2021 American Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
 
Hallinan made consecutive birdies on 16 and 17, playing the back nine in 1-over-par 37. She is six shots off the lead of 1-under-par 71, shared by Dorthea Forbrigd of ECU and Abby Herrmann from Memphis. 
 
Sunday was a challenging scoring day with a first-day average of 77.12. Only two players in the field of 50 fired rounds under par on Sunday, with just seven total players at even par or better.
 
The Bearcats are playing Pinehurst No. 6 with the course playing at Par-72, 6,290 yards for the AAC Championship. 
 
UC sits 10th as a team with an opening-round score of 326. UCF and Tulsa are tied for the top spot while Houston sits third.

UP NEXT
The Bearcats will be first off the tee Monday, starting the second round of the championship off at 8 a.m. ET. UC will be paired with student-athletes from Wichita State once again.
 
Masterson leads the team off at 8 a.m., followed by Manrique (8:09 a.m.), Pan (8:18 a.m.), Lopez (8:27 a.m.) and Hallinan (8:36 a.m.).
