TicketsCINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati men's golf team has three players in the Top-20 and sits sixth as a team after day one at the 2021 American Athletic Conference Championship at Southern Hills Club in Brooksville, Florida.
Cincinnati shot a 1-over-par total of 289 on the par-72, 7,221 track. USF leads after posting a tournament record score of 18-under-par 270 in the opening round to take a 15-stroke lead after 18 holes. USF's Kyle Flexsenhar and Luke Gifford along with Wichita State's Marcus Wochner share the clubhouse lead at 6-under-par 66.
Clay Amlung and Sam Jean both are tied for 11th after matching cards with a 1-under-par 71. Amlung shot a 3-under-par 33 on the back nine while Jean was 1-under on the front nine and even par on the back nine.
Ty Gingerich is on their heels in a tie for 19th place with his 1-over-par total of 73. Joey McCarthy is tied for 27th and Mason Lenhart is among a group in 34th after scores of 74 and 76, respectively.
