CINCINNATI – Nathan Moore gave up one hit in five shutout innings of relief and an RBI single by Paul Komistek in the bottom of the seventh led the University of Cincinnati baseball team to a 6-5 win over Wichita State on Sunday at UC Baseball Stadium.
Moore (2-0) was nearly flawless out of the pen, striking out six, including fanning the side, in order, to close the game out in the ninth. He went 5.0 innings, giving up no runs, one hit, a walk with his six strikeouts.
Cincinnati (19-18, 8-8 American Athletic Conference) took three of four from the Shockers (20-15, 8-7 AAC) and won its second-straight league series.
Komistek's RBI single broke a 5-5 tie and plated the go-ahead run in the form of Joey Bellini who had led off with a single, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Eric Santiago and then hustled home on the single to right field.
Wichita State scored four runs in the third via a Craig Cadena two-out grand slam to left field and added the tying run on an RBI single to left center from Jack Sigrist which scored Cooper Elliot from second and knotted things up at 5-5.
The Bearcats had again found some early offense, scoring five in the second for the lead. Komistek started the second inning by hitting the first pitch he saw off the scoreboard in right field, giving the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. UC would lead 5-0 after two with a two-run homer by Tanner Holen to left field and an RBI double by Joey Bellini
Bellini and Komistek both finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored.

• Cole Harting finished with seven hits, five runs scored, four walks and two stolen bases.
• Jace Mercer had two home runs, four hits, six RBIs and 10 total bases.
