CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball players Jace Mercer and Garrett Schoenle were tabbed for the weekly American Athletic Conference Honor Roll, the league office announced Monday.

Cincinnati took three of four games at Houston last weekend, finishing off an eight-game road trip with a 5-3 mark.

Mercer hit .556 for the week, slugged .833 and racked up 10 hits, including five doubles along with four runs scored and two walks. He has hit .429 in AAC play, racking up team bests with 42 hits, nine doubles and 12 stolen bases.

Schoenle pitched his first career complete game in the series opener last Friday, going the distance in a 7-2 win over the Cougars. He (5-2) tossed a career-high 127 pitches, carrying the shutout into the ninth inning where he surrendered a pair of runs. The senior gave up 10 hits, struck out three – a season low – with a pair of walks. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth as the Cougars stranded nine.

It was the first nine-inning complete game for a Bearcats hurler since. J.T. Perez against No. 24 UConn on April 20, 2018. Zach Segal, UC's starter in game two of the series, threw a seven-inning complete game at UC Baseball Stadium two weeks ago
