JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Aaron Bienenfeld just missed out in his quest to run at the NCAA Championship in two events as he finished 18th in the 5,000m semifinals as the University of Cincinnati track and field team wrapped up the third day of the NCAA East Preliminary at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

Bienenfeld, the lone Bearcats student-athlete in action Friday, qualified for the finals of the 10,000m on Wednesday. In humid conditions on Friday, he clocked 13:52.66 to finish ninth in the second heat of the 5,000. The top five in each heat plus the next two fastest times earned spots in the finals at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon in two weeks.

The top seven in Bienenfeld's heat all advanced. Michigan State's Morgan Beadlescomb won the heat and the overall event with his time of 13:40.43.
