JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Taylor Beard and Caisja Chandler qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship as the University of Cincinnati track and field team wrapped up the final day of the NCAA East Preliminary at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.
Chandler put together a banner day in Jacksonville, qualifying for the NCAA meet in two events, the 100m and 200m, while breaking her own personal best, school record and hitting the U.S. Olympic Trials standard with her 22.79 in the 200. Her previous best was 22.85, set just weeks ago at the American Athletic Conference Championship. She placed sixth in the race and had her second Top-10 in the 100m with an 11.26 effort which sealed a spot in Oregon.
Beard placed ninth in the high jump, tying her own personal best at 1.82m and qualifying for a trip to Hayward Field. She previously earned All-America honors at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Jane Sensibaugh snagged a Top-20 finish in the discus, throwing 51.16m to place 18th. Malin Smith was also in the event but did not record a mark after fouling on all three throws.
