CINCINNATI - Blake Hanna returns to Omaha to race in the 200 meter backstroke at the USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials Wave II on June 17th, 2021.
Last week, Hanna and teammates Hunter Gubeno, Conner Funke, and Kevin Leibold represented the Bearcats in wave I of the USA Swimming Olympic Trials. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the trials were broken up into two waves to spread out the competition. The top two swimmers in each race of wave I earned spots to compete in the preliminaries of wave II.
Hanna qualified to compete in the 200 meter backstroke after touching the wall with a final time of 2:00.11, finishing in second place.
He is scheduled to race in the preliminaries on Thursday, June 17th. The preliminaries for the women's 100 meter freestyle, men's 200 meter backstroke, women's 200 meter breaststroke, and men's 200 meter individual medley are slated to start around 10:00 a.m. CT/11:00 a.m. ET. The top 16 from the preliminaries qualify to compete in the semifinals of the 200 meter backstroke, slated to race around 7:00 p.m. CT/8:00 p.m. ET.
The final race for the 200 meter backstroke is scheudled for Friday, June 18th at 8:00 p.m. CT/9:00 p.m. ET.
