CINCINNATI -- Seven members of the University of Cincinnati women's golf team earned Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar accolades for the 2020-21 season, which also tied for the national lead and set a program record.
Erin Evans, Katie Hallinan, Angela Lopez, Vanessa Manrique, Paighton Masterson, Sadie Pan and Carmela Simon Prieto were the seven honorees. It marked the third time each for Lopez and Manrique, as well as Hallinan and Masterson's second.
The minimum cumulative GPA for recognition is 3.50, and Cincinnati also had six on both the 2019 and 2020 honor rolls.
"After a year like we had last year, this is such a great ending," said Director of Golf Janet Carl. "This team is so committed to its academics and using the resources our athletic department has for them. While last year was a tough one with mostly virtual learning, the team stepped out of their comfort level and grew as golfers and students.
"I am proud that they are so committed to their golf, academics and representing this university at the highest level."
Hallinan led the Bearcats with a 75.33 stroke average after transferring from Illinois mid-year.
