CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.-- The University of Cincinnati women's golf team continued its excellence off the course with recognition by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) for finishing 11th nationally in GPA.

The Bearcats produced a 3.857 mark to reach the top-20 for the fifth consecutive season. They were previously No. 17 in 2020, 15 in 2019, 7 in 2018 and 9 in 2017. UC was also the only AAC school in this year's top-25.

"This is a very meaningful award this year, as we have passed through such an unusual season with COVID," head coach Janet Carl said. "Being our fifth year, it shows this isn't a fluke, but a standard this team has for itself. We are fortunate to have such a talented Student-Athlete Support Services office to help our players accomplish this! I am just really proud of how our athletes represent our university on the golf course and in the classroom. Their commitment to what it means to be a Bearcat is top-notch."

There is even more to the eclectic summer for the squad. It also earned Team Academic Excellence accolades from the American Athletic Conference as well as boasting seven WGCA All-American Scholars that tied for the national lead and set a program record.

The WGCA, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. It was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
