WEST HARRISON, IND. - University of Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder (Louisville, Kentucky/St. Xavier) met with the media on Friday at the Higher Ground Conference & Retreat Center in West Harrison, Indiana following the Bearcats' first 2021 training camp workout.
UC held a two-hour workout in shells on a hot and sunny day at their longtime training camp home. UC is scheduled for almost a three-week stay at Higher Ground before heading back to campus prior to the start of classes on Aug. 23.

The senior is on the watch lists for the CFPA National Performer of the Year, Davey O'Brien Award, Manning Award and Maxwell Award along with being named one of the Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Year players to watch.
Ridder enters his senior season at UC as the No. 2 passer in school history, throwing for 6,905 yards and 57 touchdowns over his previous three seasons. He recently joined some of the other top QBs in the nation as counselors at the annual Manning Passing Academy. He was the 2020 American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, 2021 AAC Championship Game Most Outstanding Player and 2018 AAC Rookie of the Year, helping lead the Bearcats to a 2020 AAC Championship and an appearance in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, a New Year's Six game.
Cincinnati opens the 2021 season on Saturday, Sept. 4, against Miami (OH) in the 125th Battle for the Victory Bell at 3:30 p.m. ET inside Nippert Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and fans are encouraged to sign up for the digital platform online.
