DAYTON – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team picked up its first win of the season Friday, defeating Texas State University three sets to one.

--The Cincinnati volleyball team racked up 67 kills en route to a four-set victory (25-20, 26-28, 26-24, 25-20) over the Texas State Bobcats Friday at .

The non-conference victory improved the Bearcats' overall record to 1-1 on the season.

The Bearcats were led by a double-double from Maria Mallon, who registered 12 kills and 14 digs on the day. Abby Walker also added 17 kills to help the offense and Armania Heckenmueller contributed as well by serving up 59 assists. On the defensive end, Payton Frederick chipped in for UC with 17 digs to go with three blocks from Mallon.
