CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati women's golf team is set for its first fall tournament since 2019 when it competes in the Pirate Collegiate Classic, Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 6,061-yard Greenville Country Club. Head coach Janet Carl enters her 19th season at the helm as well.
THE FIELD
East Carolina (host), Charleston Southern, The Citadel, High Point, Marshall, Radford, Towson, UNC Asheville and Winthrop round out the field. The Bearcats' trip here last spring was at the Ironwood Country Club.
THE LINEUP
Katie Hallinan, Natalia Sompolvorachai, Carmela Simon Prieto, Sadie Pan and Paighton Masterson will represent the Bearcats. Hallinan led the squad with a 75.33 stroke average after transferring from Illinois prior to the spring semester. Masterson has the most UC experience after playing in all seven spring events, with her best finish coming at the EKU Colonel Classic (tied for 17th and eight-over 224). That score also marked a 19-stroke improvement from her previous event, the largest for anyone on the team.
PAST TRIPS
The Bearcats' last venture to this course was in September 2019 when they finished sixth. Sompolvorachai and Masterson finished 33rd and 43rd, respectively, while Angela Lopez cracked the No. 5 spot. Three of the team's six tournaments last season (the seventh was one round of stroke play, plus two of match) were two-day events.
