CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati men's golf team has earned a No. 26 national ranking in the first Golfweek rankings of the season. Sam Jean and Ty Gingerich also earned high nods as well, coming in at Nos. 60 and 78, respectively.

The Bearcats stormed out of the gates in their first event (Sept. 5-6), claiming the Hoosier Collegiate Invite title along with then-No. 10 Illinois. The field also included host and No. 18 Indiana.

Jean ultimately tied for fifth after an exceptional 3-under 68 in the finale, while Gingerich held the tourney lead after the first two rounds and eventually claimed the eighth spot. Jean has improved his stroke average each season, with his best showing a second-place finish at last spring's AAC Championships. Gingerich held a 73.24 average as a freshman last season.

UC also earned 28 points in the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll to rank 30th. It returns to action Sept. 26-28 at the Badger Invitational in Fitchburg, Wisconsin.
