LAST TIME OUT
Cincinnati dominated on both ends in last Thursday's 1-0 win over Tulsa at Gettler Stadium. It out-shot the Golden Hurricane 18-4, its best margin since 24-9 over Austin Peay in 2019. Vanessa DiNardo's 29th-minute strike was the difference, marking four of her team and AAC-leading five goals at home. She had four the previous three seasons.
WEEKLY HONORS
Paige Miller's assist on DiNardo's game-winner netted her AAC Rookie of the Week honors for the second time. DiNardo and Ashley Barron were also named to the AAC Honor Roll. Miller is third on the team with six points behind stalwarts DiNardo and Karli Royer.
WHAT IT TAKES
Cincinnati is 4-1-1 when leading at the half and a solid 7-7-1 the last three seasons on the road. A win Thursday would make the Bearcats 2-0 in league play for the second time of the Stafford era (also 2019 against Temple and UConn).
THE HISTORY
Cincinnati leads 4-3-1, with all matchups coming in the Neil Stafford tenure. Last spring's meeting saw Vanessa DiNardo score in the second minute, but the Owls added a PK in the 46th and the game-winner in the 75th. The Bearcats were called for 17 of the game's 25 fouls and held an 11-7 shots advantage as well.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
The Owls enter the matchup 2-3-3 on the year, with its only league matchup a 4-0 defeat to a strong Memphis squad. They returned to form Sunday with a 3-0 win over Drexel. Head coach Nick Bochette is in his first fall season after going 4-5-1 in his debut, COVID-19 spring campaign. He previously led Albany for three seasons.
