PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- It was heartbreak in the 88th minute for the University of Cincinnati soccer team, as it fell 3-2 at Temple on a rainy Thursday night road contest.
The Bearcats are now 5-4-1 (1-1-0 AAC), while Temple improved to 3-3-3 and 1-1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lauren Bastian started the scoring on a penalty kick in the 14th minute after she was held on a shot within the box, the first PK attempt for the Bearcats this season. Kendall Battle followed in the 48th minute as Karli Royer's corner kick found itself in good position, setting up a point-blank, punch-in ahead of the Owls' keeper.
The Owls stormed back in the 53rd and 56th minutes, first on a sliding cross for a shot in motion, then a battle at the top of the 18-yard box that allowed for just enough separation between defenders and the keeper for the tying score. A free kick and shallow shot from the far-side post in the 88th minute served as the difference.
NOTABLE
-UC dominated the stat sheet with a 26-6 shots advantage (season-high was 18) as well as 14-4 and 9-0 advantages in shots-on-goal and corner kicks, respectively.

-It was the team's first loss with multiple goals since the 2014 finale against USF.

-It was also her second PK, which was this past spring in the 2-1 win over Tennessee.
