FITCHBURG, Wisc. -- The University of Cincinnati men's golf team found uncanny consistency across its entire lineup, but the Bearcats are seventh after their first round of the Badger Invitational.
Sam Jean, Clay Amlung, Joe McCarthy and Mason Lenhart each carded 1-over 73s, with Amlung earning an eagle on the 554-yard, 16th hole. Lenhart also had a team-high four birdies. The foursome sits in a tie for 24th, with Ty Gingerich two strokes back at No. 45.
Cole Harris, competing individually, turned in the team's best score, an even-72 that puts him in a tie for 14th. Last year's team improved its second-round score in four of seven tournaments and will look to replicate the success.
"We struggled all day as a group," head coach Doug Martin said. "Nobody was able to get anything going at any point in their respective rounds. Tomorrow is a new day, and I expect to see this group play well."
