Bearcats Take On a Pair of AAC Opponents at Home

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will make its way back home this weekend for its first two home conferences matches of the season. The Bearcats (6-4, 1-1 AAC) are coming off a loss to UCF that snapped their five-game win streak. Prior to the UCF game, they took down USF 3-2 (20-25, 25-19, 15-25, 25-22, 15-13) in a thrilling comeback victory. This weekend the Bearcats come back home for two games against Memphis and SMU.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
  • The Bearcats have won five of their last six games, with the only loss coming to UCF. 
  • Freshman Abby Walker was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll for her performance this past weekend. She had a .452 hitting percentage over two games, which included a seven-kill and five-block performance against USF.
  • Maria Mallon leads the team with 151 total points and 132 kills. She also leads the team with 155 digs.
  • Shannon Williams (115) and Abby Walker (111.5) have the second and third most points on the year for the Bearcats. Williams has been one of the most consistent players on the team this year, posting 10 or more kills in seven out of 10 games.
  • Cincinnati has outscored its opponents 651-649 so far through 10 games. 
  • The Bearcats are currently third in the AAC with 12.17 assists per set and 13.02 kills per set.
 
GAMES THIS WEEKEND

  • Memphis is 8-6 (1-1 AAC) on the year. The Tigers beat Temple in their last game, 3-1, breaking a three-game losing streak where they got shut out three times in a row. 
  • As a team, Memphis is outscoring its opponents 823.5-746.5.
  • Miaya Smith leads the Tigers with 166.5 points and 143 kills.
  • Elizabeth Orf and Smith lead the team with 48 and 41 blocks, respectively.
  • Sabrina Bianco leads the AAC in assists per set with 10.83.
  • UC leads the all-time series against Memphis 34-21. UC won the last matchup 3-0, which was played on Oct. 25, 2019. The Bearcats are on a seven-game winning streak in the series.

  • The Mustangs are 6-6 (2-0 AAC) and are currently on a three-game win streak, which includes wins against Memphis and Temple. 
  • SMU is getting outscored 691.5-742 by its opponents. 
  • Hannah Jacobs (139) and Rachel Woulfe (137.5) lead the team in points. 
  • Alex Glover and Kaylyn Winkler are tied for the team lead in blocks with 42. 
  • The Bearcats are 3-9 against SMU in 12 matchups. The last matchup was Oct. 27, 2019, when the Bearcats won 3-0.
