TicketsCINCINNATI -- University of Cincinnati junior men's golfer Sam Jean has been named the American Athletic Conference's Men's Golfer of the Month.
It is the first time in program history a Bearcat has claimed the award, which is only awarded twice per fall.
Jean won the individual title at last week's Badger Invitational, carding a 7-under 209, while the team finished third. His season debut was a tie for fifth at the Hoosier Collegiate Invite, producing a 1-under 212, while the Bearcats shared the championship with No. 10 Illinois. Individually, it was UC's first championship since Austin Squires in October 2017, while the team also had a title this past March.
The Greenwood, Indiana, native has improved his stroke average in each of his first three seasons, including a 72.71 last year, where he also tied for second at the AAC Championships.
This season, the Bearcats are ranked 44th nationally, while Jean sits at No. 58.
UC continues play Oct. 11-12 at the Purdue Fall Invitational.
