HELLO AGAIN
This 10-day stretch marks the team's longest in the regular season (minus the COVID spring campaign) since September 18-30, 2016, when it defeated Youngstown State and ECU. Its only week-long absence this season was Sept. 16-23, first defeating Tulsa at home before falling at Temple.
TEAM LEADERS
Kendall Battle's goal against ECU, the team's lone one, gives her two over the last three games. In the shortened spring, she was the only one with multiple goals. Vanessa DiNardo leads this fall with five and 11 points, followed by Karli Royer (three and eight). Ten different Bearcats have reached the scoring column, with the most recent addition being Alli Pestaina's golden goal at Murray State.
THE DEFENSE
The Bearcats have held a healthy defensive showing this season, out-shooting its foes 166-107, including a 79-53 edge on goal. The lowest opponent tally of head coach Neil Stafford's nine-year tenure was the 165 in 2014. Anna Rexford has clocked 36 saves as well.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Cincinnati leads 11-7-1, with last season's win in the AAC Semifinals snapping a seven-game winless span. The Tigers claimed the first spring meeting, 2-0, but the Bearcats found a way when it mattered most in the rematch. Chloe Spitler's first-career goal was the difference, coming in the 17th minute via Maddy Pittman's assist.
RANKED WINS
Cincinnati's last-such victory was in the aforementioned semifinal contest. It has also squared off against No. 16 Michigan and currently-ranked teams in Xavier and Virginia Tech, the latter a 2-1 home win. Prior to this spring's win over the Tigers, UC's last ranked win was against No. 25 USF in the 2015 AAC Championship (after knocking off No. 10 UConn in the semis).
SCOUTING MEMPHIS
The Tigers are out-shooting their opponents 203-49 this season, which includes a 25-5 mark in goals. Head coach Brooks Monaghan is not only a Memphis native, but was also a standout goalkeeper and now highly-successful coach since taking the reins in 2000. The Tigers tied No. 23 Ole Miss and defeated Alabama this season.
