MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The University of Cincinnati soccer team fell victim to an 83rd-minute goal and eventual 2-1 defeat to No. 21 Memphis on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Vanessa DiNardo registered her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 15th minute for a 1-0 lead. Karli Royer's free kick sailed deep into the box, where Alli Pestaina's first shot was blocked, but DiNardo claimed the rebound and rifled it inside the right post. The Tigers tied it in the 49th minute as a ricochet off a defensive clearance found a Memphis body and snuck its way to past the line.

Memphis earned the game-winner on a diagonal cross, header and right-footed tap-in past the keeper.

NOTABLE
-Cincinnati was looking to defeat Memphis for the second-straight time after winning in this spring's AAC semifinal.
-Vanessa DiNardo's six goals are the most by a Bearcat since Jill Vetere in 2018.
-Grace Wolber earned her fifth start of the season.

Despite it being UC's first game in 10 days, the Bearcats are off another week before hosting SMU Sunday, which is also the team's Senior Day.
