CINCINNATI -- Just four days removed from the Purdue Fall Invitational, the Cincinnati men's golf team will return to action Saturday for the two-day Wolfpack Intercollegiate in Raleigh, N.C.
The action will be held at the par-72, 7,358-yard Loonie Pool Golf Course.
Participating teams include Campbell, East Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Elon, Furman, George Mason, High Point, James Madison, Lipscomb, No. 45 N.C. State, Southern Miss, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Virginia Tech and Wofford.
The Bearcats are coming off a fifth-place finish in West Lafayette in which Joey McCarthy boasted a career-best, second-place finish. His four-under 212 included a 69, and he improved his season stroke average to 72.11.
UC posted a 286 in the final round, its best of the week, after weather delays on Monday forced an interesting Tuesday mashup. Nevertheless, Clay Amlung continued his consistency with a 20th-place finish. He has scores of 215, 216 and 217 in three tournaments, a model of consistency (72.11) that puts him behind only defending AAC Golfer of the Month Sam Jean in stroke average (71.11).
