TULSA, OK --The Cincinnati volleyball team racked up 67 kills en route to a 3-1 win (25-23, 23-25, 25-13, 25-19) against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Friday on the road at Donald W Reynolds Center.

The victory improved the Bearcats' record to 11-4 overall and 6-1 in AAC play.

The Bearcats were led by a double-double from Maria Mallon, who registered 20 kills and 19 digs on the day. Abby Walker also had herself a night, notching a career-high 18 kills to help lead the offense. Emme Madden served up 62 assists, also a career-high. On the defensive end, Payton Frederick chipped in for UC with 18 digs to go with three blocks from Kailea Carrier.

» Maria Mallon had another huge game with 20 kills and 19 digs, her 10th double-double of the year.
» Emme Madden had a career-high 62 assists.
» Abby Walker had a career-high 18 kills as well as a career-high 7 digs.  
» Kailea Carrier had 13 kills, her third game of the year with over 10 kills.
» Cincinnati put together a strong attacking performance, notching 67 kills in the match.
» Kerstin Ficker had a season-high 13 digs.
» Cincinnati had five players in double figures in digs.
» Cincinnati is on a five-game win streak. The Bearcats have now won six in a row against Tulsa.
» UC is now 6-1 in the AAC, tied for first in the conference with UCF.


How It Happened

SET 1 | The Bearcats persevered in a back-and-forth first set to win 25-23 in a stanza that featured three lead changes and was tied 14 times. Neither team led by more than two points in the match. The Bearcats opening set win came in a match where 17 of their 25 points came via the kill.

SET 2 | Cincinnati fell in set two 25-23 to even the match 1-1. This set was similar to the first, just a back-and-forth battle between the two team. Unfortunately, the Bearcats would drop this one. The Bearcats fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.

SET 3 | Cincinnati bounced back after the set-two loss to grab the third set and a 2-1 lead in the match. UC dominated this set and the final outcome was not in question. The Bearcats took control of the set early when the score was 4-3 and never looked back to win 25-13. Cincinnati led by as many as 12 points at 24-12 before closing out the stanza, collecting 17 kills along the way.

SET 4 | Cincinnati kept the momentum going, earning the match win with a 25-19 fourth-set victory. The Bearcats took the lead for good at 14-13 in a set that showcased four lead changes before the Bearcats took over in the second half of the set. 19 of the Bearcats' 25 points came via the kill. UC took nine of the last 13 points to close out the win in convincing fashion.

NEXT UP
The Bearcats are back in action Sunday when they take on the Wichita State Shockers at 2:00 p.m. EST. They will be looking for their sixth win in a row.
