CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati baseball team fell to Indiana in a 14-inning exhibition game on Sunday at UC Baseball Stadium.
The Bearcats trailed 8-3 through five innings before exploding for 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead. The Hoosiers went on to outscore UC 10-6 in the remaining eight innings of the game.
Eleven Bearcats accounted for 16 hits on the day. Redshirt sophomore Joe Powell (3-4); sophomore Cole Harting (2-5); redshirt junior Griffin Merritt (2-5); and redshirt junior Paul Komistek (2-5) all had multi-hit games.
Griffin Merritt and true freshman Boston Smith both homered. Smith finished with 5 RBIs; three of them coming off a towering three-run bomb off the scoreboard in right field. Griffin Merritt (3 RBI) and Joe Powell (3 RBI) also had multi-RBI games.
Nine pitchers saw time on the mound, allowing 24 total hits, striking out 13 and allowing 11 walks over 14 innings. Seven of Indiana's 18 runs were unearned.
Senior Beau Keathley pitched 3.0 innings in his start without surrendering an earned run; redshirt sophomore Evan Kemp struck out two in a hitless 1.2 innings of work; redshirt sophomore Chase Hopewell pitched a scoreless 7th; and sophomore Max Bergmann went 2.0 innings without an earned run.
The Bearcats defense turned four double plays, but had five errors over the course of 14 innings. Redshirt sophomore Kameron Guidry (1 SB) and redshirt senior Dondrae Bremner (2 SB) both recorded steals for Cincinnati.

The Bearcats will play another fall exhibition game against Northern Kentucky on Friday, October 22. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM EST. Admission is free for all fans.
