CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati baseball team beat NKU in a 14-inning exhibition game on a rainy Friday night at UC Baseball Stadium.

The Bearcats got off to a hot start, scoring 7 runs in the first three innings to take an early 7-3 lead. NKU went on to plate 3 runs in the fifth to bring the score back within one, but UC outscored the Norse 7-5 throughout the remaining nine innings of the game.

Cincinnati only had 7 total hits on the day, but plate discipline was contagious as thirteen different Bearcats drew at least one base on balls, accounting for 18 total walks. Sophomore Cole Harting (2-5) was the only Bearcat with a multi-hit game, but freshman Boston Smith (2); redshirt freshman JP Sponseller (2); redshirt senior Wyatt Stapp (2); and redshirt sophomore Cam Scheler (3) all drew multiple walks.

Even though UC only recorded 7 hits, three of them were triples off the bats of Cole Harting, redshirt freshman Sean Springer and redshirt junior Paul Komistek. Komistek's second-inning triple did the most damage with 3 runs batted in.

Eleven pitchers saw time on the mound, allowing 14 total hits, striking out 18 and only allowing 5 walks over fourteen innings.

Freshman Garrett Harker pitched 2.0 perfect innings in the eighth and ninth, racking up 2 strikeouts. Redshirt sophomores Evan Kemp, Chase Hopewell, Ben Vore, and true freshman Blake Lemmon each hurled a hitless inning of their own.

The Bearcats showed off their speed as they raced their way to 12 total stolen bases on the night with only one failed attempt. Cole Harting (2), Boston Smith (2), JP Sponseller (2) and redshirt sophomore Kameron Guidry (2) all had multiple SB.
