TicketsLOXLEY, Ala. -- Sam Jean soared to a third-place ranking after the first 36 holes of the Steelwood Collegiate Invite, and the Bearcats are in eighth headed into Sunday's final round.
Jean's 6-under 66 matched the fourth-lowest round in school history, besting a career-low 67 in his championship run at the Badger Invitational this season. It was also the lowest by a Bearcat since Austin Squires at the 2019 AAC Championships.
Not to be overlooked, Mason Lenhart carded a season-low 69 in his first round to claim a No. 15 standing. His nine birdies over the two rounds were a team-high.
"Sam continues to play at a high level this fall," head coach Doug Martin said. "He puts a lot of pressure on the course with his ball-striking. Mason also played very well. As a team we continue doing things that prevent us from playing complete rounds. We have one round left this fall and tomorrow provides us an opportunity to finish the fall on a positive note."
UC will look to finish strong in Sunday's final round. Out of four previous events, it saved its best for last in the Purdue Fall Invitational, plus a second 286 in the Badger Invitational.
