MEMPHIS, TN --The Cincinnati volleyball team showed remarkable resilience with a 3-2 victory against the Memphis Tigers Sunday on the road at the Larry O Finch Center.
The conference win improved Cincinnati's record to 13-7 overall and 8-4 in AAC play. It also marked a conference sweep over Memphis on the year.
The Bearcats were led by a double-double from Maria Mallon, who registered 19 kills and 18 digs on the day. Abby Walker also added 20 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Emme Madden chipped in for UC with 18 digs to go with two blocks from Madden.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Bearcats grabbed the first set 25-16 helped by a solid performance on the attacking side. Cincinnati put together a .321 attack percentage with 11 kills in the set victory. The Bearcats ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the set. Cincinnati also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Cincinnati fell in set two 25-19 to even the match 1-1. Cincinnati trailed by as many as nine points as Memphis grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that was tied up three times before the Tigers took over the lead.
SET 3 | Cincinnati then lost their second set in a row, falling behind in the match two sets to one. The Bearcats lost the first point and never clawed back into the lead before falling in the set 25-21.
SET 4 | Cincinnati broke their two set losing streak and forced a fifth set with a 25-20 victory in set number four. The Bearcats took the lead for good at 8-7 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Bearcats held the lead for the rest of the set.
SET 5 | Cincinnati rallied from a 2-1 set deficit to win the next two sets, culminating in a 15-12 fifth-set victory, and secured the 3-2 win. The Bearcats took control of the set-five lead at 3-2 and held it the rest of the way. Cincinnati led by as many as four points at 13-9 before closing out the set, totaling 12 kills along the way.
